Have you been seeing some of the challenges to school library books across the country and our state that have been popping up in social media and the news? You're not alone. At some point in every school librarian's career, you will most likely face questions about the content of your collection or your inclusion of books on reading lists. On Tuesday, November 16th at 5:30 pm, NCSLMA members can join NCSLMA Intellectual Freedom Committee chair, Dr. April Dawkins, for a  free, live webinar providing practical tips and resources for defending your students' right to read.

Please see Dr. Dawkins' article in the most recent NCSLMA Newsletter, then join in as she gives us resources on what to do when a book is challenged. There will be a Q&A at the end of the session. Attendees will receive certificates to be used for CEU credit. This session will be recorded and posted on the NCSLMA Membership Landing page for all members to access after the webinar. Seating is limited. Librarians who are not yet members may register at a rate of $50 which includes NCSLMA membership through December 2022.

If you have questions, please contact Cindy Sturdivant (cindysturdivant@ncslma.org).
