Julie/a Stivers (she/her) is the Upper School Librarian at Carolina Friends School and previously spent many years in Wake County as a middle school librarian at Mount Vernon MS. She received her MSLS from UNC-Chapel Hill at SILS. Julia's research and practical interests center inclusive libraries, restorative school spaces, reimagined school book fairs, and exploring the power of manga and anime with her students. She is excited to think of ways to build camaraderie among the geographically diverse Region 9 to support each other as we work to support all NC students.

-have received the Frances Bradburn Distinguished Service Award,
-OR have served as President of NCSLMA.
Members in this category will pay a one-time fee. Membership fees are non-refundable.

Paraprofessional - $25.00 (USD) Subscription period: 1 year, on: October 1st No automatically recurring payments Paraprofessional Membership is open to any person currently working as a classified employee in a school library setting. This membership level is not available to participate in competitions. The membership year runs from October 1 to September 30.

Regular - $55.00 (USD) Subscription period: 1 year, on: October 1st No automatically recurring payments Regular Membership is open to any person currently working in education or a related education field. The membership year runs from October 1st to September 30th.

Membership fees are non-refundable.

RETIRED Lifetime - $110.00 (USD) Subscription period: Unlimited Lifetime -- RETIRED -- Membership shall be open to any person who is RETIRED from education.
Members in this category will pay a one-time fee.
You will need to verify your retirement.
Membership fees are non-refundable.

Student - $35.00 (USD) Subscription period: 1 year, on: October 1st No automatically recurring payments Students actively pursuing a Master’s degree in Library Science or Library & Information Science and enrolled in an accredited program will be allowed to join as a student member for two years. Students in pursuit of certification and not the full degree do not qualify for this membership. The membership year runs from October 1st to September 30th.

Membership fees are non-refundable.

Region 9 competes in NCSLMA Battle of the Books in district and regional competitions against other independent schools and in the state competition against all other schools in the state.
